The Chartiers Valley Education Foundation is led by an all-volunteer Board of Trustees. The Trustees invite you to support this mission and become a “Friend of the Foundation“.

Patricia Figorski-Trustee, President
Patti Figorski, a graduate of Penn State University, is a Registered Dietitian and owner of “Serve It Safely”, providing food safety certification courses and quality assurance auditing for personnel and businesses throughout the hospitality industry. Patti is also an instructor for the undergraduate Culinary Arts degree program at CCAC, teaching both Nutrition and Food Safety. Patti served as a School Director for the Chartiers Valley School Districct for 12 years. She and her husband Walt reside in the District, and their 2 children, Jason and Jillian, are graduates of the Chartiers Valley School District.
Russell Grunebach, Trustee, Vice-President
Russ Grunebach is the Assistant Vice President for Finance and Treasury Services at Duquesne University and has 30 years of financial management experience. Russ is a CPA and has earned a BS in Accounting from Penn State University and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz Graduate School of Business. Russ is married to Cathy and they have three children, all of whom attended Chartiers Valley schools during the past 15 years. Russ also volunteers on Auberle’s Investment and Finance Committees.
Kim Hartnett-Trustee, Treasurer
Kim Hartnett has worked for Chartiers Valley School District since 1993, starting as the Business Office Supervisor and then becoming the Business Manager. Kim and her husband, Terry (CV Alumnus), have lived in the District since 1983. They have three children; one currently a CV student and two having graduated from CV.
Stacey O’Connor-Trustee, Secretary
Stacey O’Connor is a Paralegal with the Real Estate Investment, Development and Finance practice group of K&L Gates LLP. Stacey lives in Scott Township with her husband, Tom, and two daughters who are both current students of the Chartiers Valley School District.
Rocco Cozzo – Trustee
Sandra Hallett – Trustee, Chair Scholarships and Grants
Sandy Hallett retired in 2007 after 35 years of teaching in Chartiers Valley. She taught grades K-5 and 8th-grade English as well as working with special needs students in the Learning Disabilities program. She also taught kindergarten in Bogota, Colombia for a year. She has served on the board at Scott Township Library and directs children’s shows for South Park Children’s theatre in the summers.
Kenneth A. LaSota, PhD.- Trustee
Kenneth A. LaSota, PhD is a 1973 graduate of Chartiers Valley, former captain of the soccer team and a WPIAL All-Star soccer player. Ken holds six college degrees, including four master’s degrees and a Ph.D. in geology, and is an Associate Professor of Geology and Earth Sciences at Robert Morris University, where he has taught for the last 27 years. Ken lives in Heidelberg with his wife, Rebecca, where he also serves as the Mayor of the Borough of Heidelberg.
Carrie Lynn Nolan – Trustee
Joseph Verduci- Trustee
Joe and his wife, Karen, reside in Bridgeville with their 3 children who are students at CV. He has worked for Brentwood Bank for the last 18 years running the Relationship Banking Division. He is also a Director of the Southwest Communities Chamber of Commerce. Joe served as the President of the Bridgeville Athletic Association for 10 years.
Susan Weiss – Trustee
Susan Weiss, a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, is a Regional Merchandising Associate with TNG Logistics, a supplier to national chain stores such as Walmart, Target, Walgreens, CVS, and others. Susan is also the 2016-2017 business manager for the Chartiers Valley Junior Varsity Hockey Team. Susan also served in various positions with the Chartiers Valley PTG Association, and continues to organize the annual teachers luncheon for the Chartiers Valley Middle and High School.
Susan resides in Scott Township, with her partner, Edward Schmidt, and her son Adam, a sophomore at Chartiers Valley High School.
Matthew Zeleznik- Trustee
Matt and his wife, Sandra, have three sons who are current students in Chartiers Valley School District. Matt is controller of a fabricating company and owner of KDRZ Consulting Services, where he assists area businesses in accounting and finance.
